Trade School: 21st Century Customs Framework (21CCF)

(July 29, 2022)

Numerous trade programs have been created to manage the ever-evolving threats and opportunities to commerce. Since the Customs Modernization Act of 1993, U.S. trade volumes have increased from $600 billion to over $2.7 trillion per year, with 2 million low-value shipments entering the country on a daily basis. However, this is the first comprehensive change intended to improve the whole ecosystem since the modernization act. We will discuss the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) plan to upgrade, overhaul and improve the infrastructure of inbound trade.

Pete Mento will explore the intended plan and the likely places there will be change, and what are and what are not realistic outcomes.

How have modern-day perpetrators evolved their tactics to take advantage of current vulnerabilities? More importantly, what steps can your company take to avoid being a victim of both organized and rogue attempts to steal or divert products within your supply chain?
