Detective Gary Dias, Commercial Auto Crime Bureau, Peel Regional Police

Gary Dias is currently the Detective in charge of the cargo theft team within CACB. Previously, Gary was a dedicated load/cargo theft investigator from 2017 to 2021, where he led complex cargo theft and organized crime investigations (ex. Project “Terminal”, “Silverado”, “U-Haul”), recovering millions in stolen property and cargo. Gary is recognized as a subject-matter expert in cargo theft trends, tractor and trailer theft, import/export methods, and anti-theft measures. He regularly provides education to civilian and policing partners through presentations, panel discussions, and online working groups. Gary most recently served as a panelist at the Truckload Carriers Association Conference, the Polaris Transportation Group symposium, and the Ontario Trucking Association meeting in 2025, among others. Gary is connecting with both previous and new industry stakeholders and is readily available to the TAPA Americas.
Shippers’ Rights & Privacy Law in Canada Alan S. Cofman is a partner at the downtown Toronto office of Loopstra Nixon LLP. Although he is licensed in British Columbia and Ontario, his transportation law practice takes him from coast to coast in Canada. With twenty years of experience, he has acted for all interested parties in transport and logistics, including shippers, carriers, consignees, forwarders, brokers, warehousers, insurers, and others. His work primarily includes dispute resolution, regulatory and compliance issues, and risk mitigation. Over the years, Alan has appeared in trial-level courts from BC to Nova Scotia; in the Courts of Appeal for BC and Ontario; and in the Canadian Federal Court of Appeal.
